How much does it cost to swap Polygon?
Polygon PoS gas is typically very low, and the native fee token is POL. That network fee is just one part of your total swap cost.
Polygon PoS is an EVM-compatible chain anchored to Ethereum. The broader Ethereum scaling and L2 ecosystem also includes Polygon CDK and AggLayer, which connects sovereign chains. Select the actual network shown in your wallet.

Leave native POL in your Polygon wallet. Reduce the swap amount or add POL on Polygon PoS. An ERC-20 POL balance on Ethereum cannot pay Polygon gas.
The wallet still says MATIC
Update your wallet and network token label. Native MATIC on Polygon PoS upgraded automatically in 2024. For MATIC on Ethereum, use the migration instructions linked in the official upgrade notice above.
The quote expired or the swap reverted
Get a fresh quote and check the minimum amount, liquidity and slippage settings. A reverted onchain transaction still consumes gas. Check its status before submitting another transaction.
Payment sent, output not visible
Check PolygonScan first. If the input succeeded, review the order status and payout hash. Switch your wallet to the receiving network and verify the token contract. For a wrong-network deposit, contact the service with your order ID and hash.

Do I swap Polygon using POL or MATIC?
Use POL for the native token on Polygon PoS. MATIC on Polygon PoS upgraded automatically to POL on September 4, 2024. An old wallet label can still say MATIC; update the wallet or network token symbol. MATIC held on Ethereum has a separate migration process.
What are Polygon swap fees?
There are separate cost layers: the Polygon network gas fee, the service fee or spread in the swap quote, and any destination-network or withdrawal fee. Polygon PoS gas is typically very low and paid in POL. Compare the final amount received for the same input and destination network.
Can I swap Polygon to ETH on Ethereum?
Yes, through a route that explicitly supports POL on Polygon PoS to ETH on Ethereum. Select Ethereum as the receiving network. WETH received on Polygon stays on Polygon; it is not native ETH on Ethereum. Check both the token and network before confirming.
How long does a Polygon swap take?
Timing includes Polygon transaction confirmation, service processing and confirmation on the receiving network. Polygon confirmations are fast, but cross-chain delivery follows the full route. Use the order status and transaction hashes to track each stage.
Why does my Polygon swap show insufficient gas?
Your wallet needs native POL on Polygon PoS to pay network gas. Reduce the amount you are swapping or add POL on the same network. USDC, USDT and WETH do not replace the native gas balance for a standard wallet transaction.
